Melanie Sue (Lange) Ruhwedel
July 12, 1962 – July 18, 2021

Melanie Sue (Lange) Ruhwedel was born on July 12, 1962 to Norman and Adrienne (Piazza) Lange. Seventeen days later, on July 29th, her Christian parents, joyfully following the command of Christ Jesus, had little Melanie Baptized at their church – Zion Lutheran Church of Beecher, IL. In that most blessed of Sacraments, Melanie was adopted by God to be His dear daughter for all of time and throughout eternity. That seemingly simple act would serve to shape, guide, and direct Melanie for the rest of her life! She would later personally and publicly acknowledge her Baptismal faith when she underwent the Rite of Confirmation on April 11, 1976, also held at Zion.
Melanie loved Zion and her fellow members. She thoroughly enjoyed worshipping with her mother and father along with all of her Christian brothers and sisters. She was known for her care and concern for those around her and often inquired as to others’ personal well-being.
Melanie held a number of employment positions over the years. Most recently she worked for First Community Bank and Trust as a loan processor in their Beecher office. She also worked part time for Lange Trucking and Excavating of Beecher supervising the office and handling all of the clerical duties.
Melanie married Gary Ruhwedel on November 4, 2014. They enjoyed their time together caring for their families, their home, and going on motorcycle rides. Melanie also found great joy in tending to her home’s landscaping and flower beds.
Melanie was called to her heavenly home on July 18, 2021 in Dyer, IN. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Matthew, Ryan, and Heather Buchmeier, all of Beecher; her father, Norman Lange of Beecher; her brother, Scott Lange of Beecher; two stepsons, Scott and Eric Ruhwedel; five step-grandchildren, Maurico, Montgomery, Taeo, Logan, and Evelyn Rose.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Adrienne.
Melanie’s earthly remains will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Park of Monee, IL. There they shall await the Day of the Resurrection of All Flesh, when the voice of Jesus will call forth Melanie to live with Him in body and soul forevermore.
