Dear Zion Family,
Parish Education Resumes on September 11th, 2022. As we move into the fall, it is time to resume Parish Education. The three Beecher Lutheran Churches had several meetings to determine service times to accommodate this effort. The final decision has been made and the two vacancy Pastors will continue to serve Zion faithfully. The other two Churches will be joining us at Zion for Bible Study and Sunday School. Wonderful times are upon us as we share the faith with our fellow Lutherans. The new service times will officially begin on Sunday, September 11. Early Service at St. John at 8 AM Bible Study / Sunday School at Zion at 9:30 AM (about 45 minute sessions) Late Service at Zion at 10:30 AM Evening Services at Zion will continue to be on Monday nights at 7:00 PM. Senior Worship remains the same - the third Thursday of each month at Zion at 11:00 AM Please mark your Calendars for the time change to begin on September 11! In His Service, Dave Mills, Chairman Zion Board of Elders

Attention all seniors, retirees or anyone available on the 3rd Thursday of the month!!
We are encouraging everyone who is available to come to this special worship service and luncheon no matter what your age. Following the communion service, you will be served a luncheon which is sponsored by private donations of individual members of Zion and served by some of our members. This event is held on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Please join us at 11:00am for a time of worship and fellowship. Everyone Is Welcome! We are looking for a volunteer to mow the grass in the courtyard area each week. Please call Tony Triola (708-897-6187) for more information.
Students: If any of our students will be studying away from home in the coming year, please supply your name and school address to Pastor LaMie ([email protected]) or Pastor Stein ([email protected]).
College Bound Support: We want to form a committee to remember our students studying away from home this year with cards and notes of support as well as occasional surprise packages. If you can commit to this important mission work, please contact Tammy Braun. ([email protected] or 708-769-9066) Oktoberfest will be here soon! Oktoberfest will be held at Firemen’s Park and we are planning for 500 guests. We will serve from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm; event ends at 4:00 pm. Events include a bean bag tournament, bingo, raffle baskets, and a silent auction. We will have barrel car rides and the Beecher Fire Department will have tours and fun events for the kids.
Oktoberfest preparation – volunteers needed: In order to make our Oktoberfest a success, we will need helping hands for Saturday preparation and on Sunday for the event itself. What can you do to help make this event a success? We need Raffle Baskets, Desserts, and sponsors for German Potato Salad ingredients. Signup sheets will be posted at St. John and Zion. Please contact Stan Heimerl [email protected] (312) 933-5811 or Cherie Heimerl [email protected] (708) 908-1937 We will need all the desserts, potato salad ingredients, and basket raffle items at Zion Church by 9:00 am Saturday morning September 17. We will be making the German Potato Salad in the kitchen at Zion Church on Saturday, as well as prepping all the raffle baskets and silent auction items and desserts. Please remember that desserts will be sitting out during our event, so we ask that you do not bring any items with cream cheese, whipped cream frosting, or cream pies. Closer to the event we will post sign-up sheets for the volunteer work schedule at Zion and St. John. The more volunteers we have, the better our event will be. Most importantly, we look forward to seeing everyone for a day of food, fellowship and fun! Bobby Hall autographed jersey raffle drawing: We are selling tickets for $10 each. The drawing will occur at the end of the Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Winner need not be present.
