God's people come together to observe "Good Shepherd Sunday." The 4th Sunday of Easter always has the theme of Jesus as our Good Shepherd who saved us from our sins & is ever with us, leading & guiding us day by day. The sermon is based on John 10:22-30 & is entitled: "The King of Love... Is Mine Forever!"
The Old Testament sacrificial system can, at times, be confusing to us. Today, we take a look at a devotion written by an Old Testament scholar that helps us see Christ as the fulfillment of that sometimes complicated system. Scripture to be read is Numbers 19:2-3.
Zion's students, teachers, & staff come together before the Lord's altar - that primary place where He showers His gifts in Word & Sacrament to His beloved ones. Today we consider Jesus' 3rd resurrection appearance. At first, those who He loved didn't recognize Him. But He persistently revealed Himself to them... AND CONTINUES TO DO THAT TO US! We consider these facts in today's chapel service.
Saul was persecuting those who belonged to "the Way" that is, he pursued Christians with the idea of destroying them. Jesus, however, converted Saul to also be a member of "the Way." In this service we consider our journey as part of Jesus' very own on our way to eternal life with Him. The sermon title is: "A Member OF 'the Way' While ON the Way" based on Acts 9:1-22. Confirmation is held during the 10:30 am service.
Jesus declares Himself to be "the Light of the world." And then, look out! He brought the wrath of His enemies upon Himself! Why would that be? Also, within this we consider a truth that is also incredibly ironic! Scripture to be read is John 8:12 & 20.
Zion's students, teachers, & staff come together to hear the Good News that Christ is risen from the dead! Pr. Julian LaMie of St. John Lutheran is our guest preacher today. Two Easter hymns are sung and the account of Jesus, Thomas, & the other 10 apostles is read from John, chapter 20.
