PTL (Parent Teacher League) |
Zion's Parent Teacher League is a group of parents and teachers who collaboratively build closer relationships between Zion families by providing opportunities for fellowship.Zion parents automatically become PTL members upon enrollment of their student(s). PTL offers many opportunities and levels of involvement from volunteering to becoming a board member. Children get excited to see their parents invested and grow to model that behavior as compassionate members of society. What does PTL do?PTL is a link between parents and teachers which strengthens relationships between home and school and enables both home and school to help children grow as Christians. Family events, such as the Game Nights, Snowman Shoppe, the All Family Dance, and others are planned to provide an opportunity for whole families to enjoy fun-filled activities with their fellow Christians from the larger "family" of Zion Lutheran School. Zion Lutheran School's PTL also manages Zion's Family Partnership program. The program is designed to help parents find ways to volunteer in various capacities that best suit their personal talents and schedule. Many opportunities (listed to the right) can be completed at home, outside of school hours, or during evening and weekends. Extended family, friends, and neighbors can assist parents in meeting the Family Partnership annual goal. Partnership annual expected goals (June 1-May 15) per family are: (Hours are by family, regardless of the number of total students, 15 hours maximum per family.)
Partnership hours are tracked and updates sent home each quarter with the student report cards. As of May 15 each year, any unfulfilled Family Partnership hours will be assessed a $10/hour fee which will be used to support the school and its activities. This program's goal is to strengthen the community relationship between parents, teachers, and students, so it strongly encouraged that families volunteer their time rather than contribute money to fulfill their Family Partnership obligation. Zion Lutheran School is a religious institution and therefore, doesn't receive any state or federal funding for academics. Zion Lutheran Church subsidizes a significant portion of every student's tuition. The school is supported only by the church, tuition, volunteer support labor, and fundraisers by the PTL and the school. Thank you for your support - we couldn't do it without you! To contact any member of the current PTL executive board, please call Zion's school office at 708-946-2272.
